Being an experienced wedding photographer in the North West & having over 150 weddings under my belt, I thought it only fair that I share a list of all the little details you need to remember on your big day.
The invitation – Your wedding invitation is the first element of the day that your guests will see from you, so no wonder you took so much time choosing or designing it. Make sure you bring a copy with you on the wedding day, so I can get a shot of it with your flowers & veil. It’s always a great way to start an album.
A hanger for THE dress – I know this is something I forgot but wished I had on my wedding day! Most wedding dresses come on the shop plastic hanger, which is anything but elegant. Make sure you’re prepared with a lovely wooden, velvet or personalised hanger, a great keepsake after the big day too.
Accessories – The final touches to a wedding look are more important than you may think. Earrings, necklaces, hair accessories & a veil complete a bridal look in the most picturesque way. They compliment the dress beautifully & are a must-have on a wedding day.
Bride’s bouquet – Last minute details such as bridesmaid accessories or bouquet details can get lost in the all the planning, so don’t forget to add these to your to-do list. Some brides also like to wrap sentimental lace or lockets around their bouquet stem , and these need to be chosen in advance & brought along on the wedding day.
Menus on the table – Guests might not remember the food they have ordered, so it’s always nice to work with your venue to create a menu for guests to read once everyone is sitting down & ready for the wedding breakfast to begin. These also make a lovely shot & keepsake.
A guest book or signing frame – It may be a tradition but it’s a tradition that comes in handy for years to come. The guest book is a wonderful way to remember all the friends & family that came to celebrate your union as husband & wife. Many guest books allow space for advice or messages & these are always fun to read as newlyweds!
Seating plan – The seating chart is the most important & most time consuming detail a bride & groom will have to complete. From where Grandma is going to sit to who can’t sit next to each other, the strategy of a seating chart can take time & that’s why it’s something that shouldn’t be overlooked!
The cake! – The cake is definitely a detail I never miss! But make sure you know exactly how the cake will be served for guests after you have cut it, & put someone in charge of saving some for you to enjoy after the wedding.
